Where our numbers come from.

We combine published industry cost data — HomeAdvisor and Angi cost guides, and Remodeling Magazine's Cost vs. Value report — with regional labor and material multipliers for every U.S. metro.

Ranges are typical costs, not quotes. Your final price depends on your home, your materials, and the bids you get — the range exists so you can judge the bids.

Your questions, answered

Are these estimates quotes?

No. We publish typical cost ranges — where most completed projects like yours actually landed — built from published industry data and adjusted for your metro. A quote comes from a contractor who has seen your home. The range exists so you can judge the quotes.

Do I have to give my phone number?

Not to see cost data. Ranges, guides, and the calculator are free and anonymous. We ask for contact details only if you want bids from local pros — and we show you which companies you are matched with, by name, before you submit.

Who will contact me if I request bids?

Home Services Marketplace and up to four matched local companies — shown to you by name before you submit, so there are no surprises. Consent is not a condition of purchase, and you can opt out at any time. Every submission is independently certified, so there is a record of exactly what you agreed to.

How does Home Services Marketplace make money?

Contractors pay us when a homeowner chooses to connect with them. Homeowners never pay, and contractors cannot pay to change the cost data we publish. How we make money →

What if no network pros cover my area?

If our vetted local network doesn't serve your ZIP yet, we'll tell you — and, with your consent, connect you with up to four quotes from our national partner services instead. Same rule applies: you see who you are matched with, by name, before anything is shared.
